## What App Opener provides

App Opener is an interactive creation and testing surface for supported shopping, video, music, messaging, and travel apps. The live HTML page is the source of truth for the current supported-app directory.

To create a link, provide a supported destination URL, choose the matching app, and generate an app-opening link for use in ads, social posts, messages, email, or a link-in-bio page.

## Platform behavior

- App-opening behavior can differ across iOS and Android.
- The destination app generally needs to be installed and support the requested destination.
- If the app cannot be opened, the visitor receives a web fallback.
- Supported UTM and affiliate query parameters can be preserved.
- No SDK is required to create a link for a supported third-party destination.
- No link can override operating-system security or a visitor's device settings.

## App Opener versus SmartLink

Use App Opener when the intended destination is a native app. Use SmartLink when the intended destination is a website that should open in Safari or Chrome.
